Ruthless USW 2nds secured back-to-back wins after they breezed past the 3rds by a 30-point margin.

Sharp-shooters Larry Vaughancapenter and Amelia Gardner fired the 2nds to a second straight home win as they scored 25 and 27 points respectively.

It was a quiet start for both sides, however Vaughancapenter and Gardner soon found their form, and sent the 2nds into an 11-5 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The 2nds ran riot in the second quarter, and managed to net eight baskets without reply, giving them a 21-point lead come the half-time whistle.

Heading into the third quarter, the 2nds were ahead 29-8.

Gardner was yet again at the top of her game in the third quarter, epitomised by when she scooped the ball up from the court and arrowed a shot home from a tight angle.

The 3rds delivered an extremely spirited display in the closing stages, as Goal Shoot Roxy Williams netted six points which meant her side won the last quarter 10-9.

Williams was a star throughout for the 3rds, and so too was Goal Defence Paula Mujjuzi, who had a fierce final quarter.

It wasn’t enough however, and Vaughancapenter sealed the seconds’ great performance with a deft shot just before the final whistle.

USW 2nds now look to make it three wins from three as they host Hartpury 3rds next week, while the 3rds entertain Trinity St David’s 1st team.
