Cardiff City were undone by a second half Wrexham triple-salvo as they went down in this Genaro Adran Premier clash.
The score was locked at stalemate at half-time in a hard-fought encounter, but when things sprang to life in the final half-hour, the home team came out worst.
Wrexham took the lead in 55th minute through midfielder Faye Knox, but 18 minutes later Cardiff attacker Mackenzie Olden equalised.
There were some scrappy, niggly moments as tensions rose. Cardiff defender Lisa Owen was shown a yellow card for tugging on a Wrexham’s player’s jersey which gave Wrexham the chance of a free kick.
Bluebirds midfielder Kerry Walklett was also cautioned for a clumsy challenge.It wasn’t long before Wrexham were back in front through Katie Barker who found the net clinically.
As Cardiff chased the game, the action became more fiery. Both sides showed aggression, but it was Wrexham who capitalised.
In the 84th minute the Dragons were awarded a penalty as substitute Mariam Mahmood was brought down in the box and Barker made no mistake from the spot for a 3-1 lead.
Cardiff had chances to claim a goal back, but it wasn’t to be and Wrexham could reflect on a deserved victory.
The result leaves Cardiff top of the Phase Two Championship Conference by a point from Wrexham, who have a game in hand.
