USW men’s hockey vice-captain Sebastian Horne spoke of his team’s “big improvement” after they drew 1-1 against Swansea University.
A goal from USW’s James Johnson was cancelled out by Thomas Penswick in a hard-fought encounter.
Horne said: “I think we deserved a win, it’s a shame to have conceded a bit of a scrappy goal at the end.
“We played well, it’s a step up from the other results we’ve had this season so we’ll take it from there.”
Asked about improvements needed for the next game he replied: “We definitely need some. Using those pocket presses when they are playing zonal out against us and not being lazy.
“Overall, I think the improvement we’ve made is definitely big compared to the rest of the year we’ve had so far.”
USW will host Cardiff’s 3rd team in their next game.
