WHAT looked to be a close affair between the two sides, soon set out to become a one-way tie.

After the opening two minutes consisted of end-to end action, this shortly sustained period of time soon drew to a close.

Aberystwyth goal attack Natasha Morgan scored two goals in quick succession in the 5th minute.

Although it looked like USW might cut the deficit in half just one minute later, this attack was put to bed after a good piece of defending from Aberystwyth’s Zoe Kempster.

In the 8th minute Charlotte Hanson scored, giving the away side a three goal advantage.

Although USW were able to pull one goal back, this was cancelled out straight after the centre pass to resume play, as goal shoot Charlotte Hanson grabbed her second from the left side of the shooting circle, completing her hat trick.

This drew the quarter to a close with the away side 6-1 up.

As play resumed, it was still Aberystwyth who were on top, grabbing their first goal of the second quarter just two minutes in.

Once again USW were able to get another goal back through a swift counter-attack, however this moment of joy was short-lived, as once again Aberystwyth scored directly from the centre play.

Eight minutes in saw the away side grab another goal, while Hanson was also able to complete her hat trick within the same minute.

Hanson was the name to remember as yet again she grabbed another two goals as the second quarter and first half drew to a close with the score being 11-2 to the away side.

After the first half ended 2-13 both teams looked to take a much more clinical approach to the second half.

Aberystwyth took a bigger foothold in the third quarter after goal attack Anna Clifton scored eight of the 11 goals for Aberystwyth with a very impressive performance.

USW defended very well in the third quarter as Aberystwyth had many more chances than the goals they scored, leaving the away side with a lot of missed opportunities.

The fourth quarter was when USW were at their strongest as they doubled their score during this period.

Despite their best efforts USW were unable to contain Aberystwyth as the combination of Anna Clifton, Charlotte Hanson and Ellie Hutchings scored over and over to build a lead with great individual performances.

The result is USW 4th’s best defensive performance of the season so far and only one goal short of their best attacking display of the season, so still many positives for the future.
