The USW 3rds defeated the USW 4ths 37 – 23 in a friendly match after their BUCS league match was forfeited due to a lack of players on the 4ths side.

The 3rds struggled past the makeshift fourths team in a match where Lorel and Yaz Cady shared 29 points between them.

An impressive performer was Molly Howarth who played for both sides and was equally formidable in defence. She swapped to the fourths for the third quarter and that was the one quarter where the thirds did not better the score of the fourths.

For the fourth, Laura Hewitson scored 19 of the 23 points that the 4ths scored. She put on a clinical display, scoring seven points in the final quarter. No player scored more than her in the match.

Elsewhere, the player of the match was Nicole Harvard of the 3rds. She covered the most ground in a relentless display from the centre position as well as capturing the most assists in the game.

Before the game, the initial BUCS league match between the two sides was scheduled to kick off at 1 PM however the fourths were not able to field a full side. The same occurred last week, and they lost 84 – 4 to the USW seconds.

The fourths remain at the bottom of their table while the thirds sit in third in theirs. Both teams have games in hand on the teams above.
