UNIVERSITY of South Wales 1st were knocked out of the cup after a ruthless performance by Swansea University 2nd.

USW came into the game fresh off the back of two victories against Cardiff Met 5th and Cardiff Women’s 4th respectively.

Whereas Swansea 2nd had started the season by winning their opening three games. These came against Cardiff Met 5th, Bristol 5th and Gloucestershire 3rd.

The opening quarter finished with the away side leading 8-6, thanks to Georgia Weall and Katie Smith both being on target for the away side.

Their fine form continued in the second quarter, but with Natasha Cowell and Megan Jones also getting points on the board, the score stood at 18-14 to Swansea.

Despite USW being behind for the first three quarters, they still found themselves well and truly in the game.

The frustration for USW was duo Weall and Smith didn’t look like missing and constantly kept the score ticking over. As a result, the third quarter finished 22-28 to the team in green.

Swansea’s class was then shown in the final quarter, where they scored 11 points to USW’s four, making it finish 39-26.

Swansea will now turn their attention to next week where they face Cardiff 5th whereas USW travel to the Archers Arena to face Cardiff Met 4th.
