Despite the defeat quick decision making in the field gave USW three run-outs with UWE eager to add to their run tally throughout the course of their 12-overs.
USW captain Lucy Nicholson was determined to rally her side back into the affair with a strong 24-run batting performance despite playing with a shoulder injury which hindered her.
Amelia Ahl for UWE posted 31 runs including two maximums which helped her side build a strong lead going into the changeover.
Building on UWE’s dominance, the bowling of Lilly Smith and Olivia Kingdom accounted for the first four USW batters.
Ill-disciplined bowling from the USW camp saw them concede 68 runs from wide balls and prevented the hosts building their momentum. This was in the face of the accurate deliveries from UWE’s Kingdom and her team mates, who only displaced eight balls across the 12 overs played.
