CHANGES in football coaching staff and alternative venues for rugby are part of an exciting new era for USW sport.

That’s the view of head of sport, Steve Savage, who is optimistic about what lies ahead for the university.

“It’s great to have students back playing sport and interacting (since the pandemic restrictions),” said Savage.

“Hopefully the football team will still have success and they are enjoying it.

“Change is good and different faces are good.”

He also gave an important update on venues for the rugby team, who have been playing at Cardiff Arms Park and The Wern, home of Merthyr RFC.

“The rugby rebuild programmes are fantastic,” Savage added.

“They are training at the Sport Park in Treforest but playing on 3G pitches elsewhere.”
