THE NEEDS of Welsh Premiership side Bridgend Ravens and the ambitions of second year Sports Journalism student Tobias Hunt compliment each other.

The Ravens media team is made up of volunteers, the addition of the keen and aspirational Hunt means that their workload is eased and content can be expanded.

The 19-year-old has been working with the semi-professional team for a year and feels it has helped him to progress as a journalist.

“The club has really helped me develop, allowing me to fulfil roles a senior media officer would usually do.

“Working with the Ravens has helped me to develop personally and has also helped my podcast develop (@welshprempod).

“It’s also given me an opportunity to create new contacts and interview some of the next generation of potential Wales internationals such as number 8 Morgan Strong.”

The content that Hunt has produced has centred around writing match reports, interview pieces and articles. Even though the Ravens aren’t playing at the moment due to the pandemic the content has not stopped.

The lack of on-field action has forced Hunt to be creative and he has done just that, he has started a series of feature pieces looking at where the members of successful teams of the clubs past are now.

The first piece of the series looked at the 2015 Bridgend team that won the SWALEC Cup. During that piece Hunt looks at the likes of Tom O’Flaherty who has gone on to bigger and better things.

The winger in now thriving at the Exeter Chiefs who are the reigning European Champions Cup and Gallagher Premiership champions.
