COACH Kath Morgan didn’t mince her words when asked to sum up the display of her side in a 0-1 home defeat to Cardiff Met 2nds.
Morgan said her players did not adapt to the outdoor elements having grown used to playing inside the barn in recent weeks.
On a bitterly cold and blustery November afternoon, Morgan admitted USW got what they deserved and bemoaned the fact the hosts produced just two attempts on goal all match.
“I thought we were exceptionally poor from start to finish,” she said.
“I think the elements were against us, we’ve been very spoilt playing in the indoor barn and we failed to adapt to conditions.
“We haven’t won the first ball, we haven’t won the second ball and to be fair to Cardiff Met they thoroughly deserved the victory.
“We only had two clear chances on goal and that’s not good enough.
“However, I take light from the fact we’ve never played this badly this season, my girls aren’t robots, they put in a shift for me every week so we move on to the league next week which is my only priority.”
While critical of her team, Morgan stressed that they cannot be expected to churn out victories and good performances relentlessly.
She added: “Possibly individuals just weren’t up for it today, maybe they didn’t sleep well, maybe they were out celebrating Wales qualifying for the Euros but they are human beings.
“They don’t turn up not wanting to play well or not score goals but that’s life and there are far worse things that could have happened.”
