BECKY Oatley is a former Welsh international netball player, playing for the Severn Stars in the Vitality Netball Superleague since 2016.
Becky has been involved in sport and mental health campaigns for many years and has great insight into mental health problems.
‘For me, sport is an incredible medicine. It has given me great friends, wonderful memories and taught me valuable life lessons.’
Becky has worked with Time To Change Wales, which is the first national campaign to end the stigma and discrimination faced by people with mental health problems. She has done a number of blog posts for the campaign, expressing her personal battle and how sport has helped her.
Becky will be talking at the conference about her experiences over the last several years, which will give a first hand awareness into the battles of mental health.
She also spoke to USW Sports Journalism student Dan Cope about the mental health problems she encountered during her teens and 20’s.
