UNIVERSITY of South Wales Men’s 1st host top of the table Hartpury 1st which looks to be the fixture of the season so far.

The current BUCS Premier South and Cup champions USW are going into this game as underdogs. Lee Kendall’s side have not had an ideal start to the season, given that they were undefeated in both the league and cup last campaign.

USW will look to avenge their opening day defeat to Hartpury, although they have gone three games unbeaten following  victories over Exeter and Bath and a one-all draw against local rivals Cardiff Met.

Hartpury will have all the momentum going into this game as they are currently unbeaten and won all five of their games. They will seek their own revenge after they narrowly lost to USW in the cup final last season, courtesy of Joe Evans’ heart-breaking stoppage-time winner.

USW’s captain Kane Owen said: “It’s going to be a tough game, but we are all looking forward to it. We are going into the game with a winning mentality like every other game. Over the last 18 months I think we’ve made our home games very difficult for teams to come here and take points off us, so hopefully will be the same tomorrow.”

Hartpury player Josh Thomas, who was included in Hartpury’s Team of the Week last week said: “We’re on a good run of form and tomorrow will be our toughest test yet this season. Everyone is looking forward to the game and confident of getting a positive result.”

This match is ‘guaranteed fireworks’ in a top of the table clash which has so much history between both sides.

Kick-off is at 17:00.
