USW Netball 2nds secured their second win of the season with an impressive 50 –16 win over Aberystwyth 2nd.
From the first whistle, USW set the tempo and quickly established control of the game.
Aberystwyth were unable to gain any prolonged possession due to quick passing, powerful movement off the ball, and constant pressure from the hosts.
Due to their highly effective work in defence and attack, USW’s first-quarter intensity set the tone for the final result.
Despite a slight decrease in that intensity in the second-quarter, USW maintained a strong lead.
Aberystwyth was unable to gain momentum thanks to USW’s ability to hold onto possession and reset defensively, giving them a comfortable lead going into the second half.
After the break, the team responded positively, recovering their earlier focus and maintaining their dominance on both ends of the court.
When moving the ball forward, Roxy Williams, Olivia Fisher, and Madi Williams had good awareness and competitiveness, making USW’s offensive side stand out.
USW were able to regularly convert chances and increase their lead because of their smooth movement through the court, which provided space in the shooting circle.
USW were equally dominant in defence. Nell Downie and Jade Leonard both showed excellent performances, disrupting Aberystwyth’s attacking flow with timely blocks and critical interceptions.
Their pressure forced errors and gave USW numerous chances to immediately initiate a counterattack.
