USW women’s hockey 1sts suffered another huge home, this time to Cardiff Univertsity 3rds, to end the season bottom of ICG Women’s Western Tier 2 with a tally of -3 points.

Cardiff dominated the match and while USW put up a fight, they had no answer  to the away team’s quality.

The first goal came in the fifth minute when Aimee Tessier finished past USW’s Bethan Havard with a penalty flick.

Just 10 minutes later, Medics doubled their lead with Lixton grabbing their first of the afternoon. She faced up to the goalie, dribbled past her and finished into an empty net.

USW fought really well in the first half and created a few chances even after going down 2-0, however they produced nothing that challenged the visitor’s goalkeeper.

Cardiff’s third goal came just two minutes after the half time break, Carla Foxworthy finishing after a well worked move by the team.

Lixton’s second goal of the game came five minutes later and Lena Millar-Hogg then finished well to stretch the lead to 0-5.

Foxworthy grabbed a second from the short corner and Lixton pounced soon after to grab her hat-trick.

Further strikes from Lixton and Nia Rees-Sanders made it 9-0 and completed a miserable way for USW to end their season.
