A PETITION has been launched to rename a stand at the Cardiff City Stadium after Neil Warnock.
Warnock – who took over the reigns in south Wales in October 2016 – parted company with the Bluebirds by mutual agreement on Monday evening.
The 70-year-old guided the club to the Premier League in his second season at the helm, before suffering relegation from the top-flight last term.
“I am leaving my beloved Bluebirds after over three years of which have been some of the best days in my long football career,” said Warnock.
“I would like to thank all you supporters for getting behind me and the team. I hope you have all enjoyed the journey. I am proud to leave the club as a united one and long may you all achieve the success that you deserve.”
He succeeded Paul Trollope with the Bluebirds sitting 23rd in the Championship three years ago, galvanising the club and their supporters during his tenure.
And now a Cardiff fan has launched an online petition to pay homage to Warnock by calling for a stand to be named after the Yorkshireman.
The supporter responsible, ‘Cardiff HQ’, wrote: “Neil Warnock was appointed Cardiff manager on 5 October 2016. At the time the Bluebirds were in the midst of a relegation scrap which in his first season in charge Neil Warnock guided them to safety.
“In his second season, Neil Warnock produced a miracle earning him a legend status at the club where he got Cardiff promoted into the Premier League for the first time since 2013.

“It is a shame to think how differently things could’ve been but the one constant factor was the love of Neil Warnock and his brilliance.
“Due to this, The Neil Warnock Stand is needed.
“Thank You, Neil!”
The club have already begun searching for Warnock’s successor, with former Millwall boss Neil Harris and Cardiff defender Sol Bamba among some of the names to be linked with the hot seat.
