SWANSEA City’s leading goal scorer, Oli McBurnie, is confident that his side is forming good habits as they continue their winning streak.

McBurnie scored a brace during Swansea’s 4-1 victory against Gillingham in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday.

He believes the winning mentality is a powerful contributor to results on the pitch, as the Swans have been unbeaten so far this year.

Swansea went into the break two goals up, but there was a slight scare when Josh Rees pulled one back for the visitors.

Swansea remained strong and pulled away with goals from Bersant Celina and Barrie McKay.

The win is the Swans’ fourth out of five and the in-form striker was delighted with it.

“Winning is a good habit to get into and that’s what we are doing at the moment, we want to keep it going as much as possible,” the Scotsman said.

“You can see that we are full of confidence from the way we are playing at the minute.

“We’ve had some good results at the start of this year, not just results but performances going along with it.

“In the first half we completely dominated it and showed our authority. That’s the way we want to play games, that’s the way want to play football and we’ll aim to try and do that as much as we can.”

Swansea saw 61% of possession in the tie and worked a total of 19 chances, showing just how much they were in charge.

The Swans have scored a total of 13 goals in the five games that they have played in 2019 and kept two clean sheets in the process.

McBurnie is Swansea’s top scorer with 13 goals this season, four of them in 2019.

The striker highlighted just how important a winning form is when competing in a league which is as tight as the Championship is.

“Two wins in a row and you can go from 14thto 6th, it’s very tight and that’s the way the Championship is.

“The fact that anybody can beat anybody doesn’t help to settle out the league.

“It’s exciting, it’s a good league. You can go into any game thinking you can win and so does the other team.”

Swansea will be wanting to continue their impressive form in 2019 on Tuesday night as they welcome 13th placed Birmingham City to the Liberty Stadium.

Only one point separates the Swans and the Blues and the away side bring with them a Swans favourite, former player and manager Garry Monk.
