Rob Bailey, manager of the 3rds football team, insisted there were positives despite a 3-1 reverse at the hands of Bristol.
It was his side’s second loss of the current league campaign, while Bristol have yet to be beaten.
Bailey said: “I take positives from this game despite losing and despite not being at our best.
“At 1-1 we’ve hit the crossbar and hit the post and the keeper made a good save as well. Had those chances gone in we’d be having a different conversation.”
Bailey looked ahead to next week’s cup game against Plymouth and hopefully the right response from his players.
“Plymouth is a cup game, so we can take our mind off the league,” he said.
“It’s a free game if you like, we’re not expected to win.
“They are two divisions higher than us, so it’s an opportunity for the players to show what they can do.”
