They say a picture paints a thousand words, and if you study PhotoJournalism at the University of South Wales, you’ll get to learn the theory behind that premise.
PhotoJournalism is about telling stories through the medium of photography. Pictures can be a powerful story telling device and while journalists use words, photojournalists rely on strong images to convey meaning.
USW PhotoJournalism student Sara Miles produced these sports images during her first year of study. The hockey pictures show a match between Rhondda Ladies and Gwent Hockey Club, which took place in March 2017. The football pictures were taken in Treforest, Wales on February 22, 2017. They show USW Girls first team in action at the University Of South Wales Sports Park.
