AS dream jobs go, they don’t get much better for a tennis fan than working at Wimbledon.

Second year University of South Wales Sports Journalism student, Callum Ellis, started a two week paid placement in SW19 last Saturday.

As well as getting to see some of his favourite players in action, celebrate his 20th birthday and sample some traditional fare, i.e. strawberries and cream, he’s been documenting his time at the All England Club.

Here are some of his highlights from the first week

“It has been quite a surreal experience … Today has been quite a challenging one … but one I’ve really enjoyed.”

“There’s a real, real excitement in the air … I’ve managed to watch a bit of tennis action as well … There have been plenty of journalists all arriving ahead of the tournament.”

“Quite a few upsets to report on from yesterday …”

“This is my view of the venue from my placement ….”

“It’s quite a big day for Wales …”

“It was great to see Andy Murray back on court …”

“Another remarkable display from Cori Gauff …”
